Well,

this year she isn't doing anything, she is teaching other peoples childtren,

In the past Britt would have outside school, usually one or two,

then school sports would usally be one per semester,

Always kept us both busy

we are bad - I admit it. But as long as we have the time, money & the kids enjoy themselves and we can still hang out together we allow it.

This year there are 15 dance classes between the 4 girls, 3 in hockey (one rep PW goalie & other 2 are beginners) & Guides. In our 'down' time (aka when hockey ends end of Feb) the kids are enrolled in swimming lessons. Sad thing is the youngest girl is the one who has the most dance classes and does hockey

We always said that they would be allowed 2 activities with one of them being swimming. But found that they were getting too far ahead in swimming ;\)

Every year we say we are going to cut back but it never seems to happen.

We are the opposite of Chel lol We have a "rule" of no more than one activity per child at a time. Our family is busy with volunteer commitments with our community league and school, and we both work, dh has a p/t business on top of his full time job, so we can't handle more than that. It stresses me out.

ATM, we have none enrolled in anything and I'm looking forward to a quiet fall. We will probably just take the kids swimming at the Y.... maybe see if there is something there they are interested in doing more regularly.

My kids are allowed 1 thing each and scouts. DD refuses to join scouts and chooses to stay home. They are both in Karate and that is it. I don't have the time to drive them around now.

In years past there was no limit because my Ex would pick them up after wards if I dropped them off but I can't do that anymore now that he has moved to Toronto. As it is, my parents take the kids to Karate.

So far we're only doing hockey. The last couple of years while I was off work, we were doing skating, swimming, art, and acting(on top of preschool 3xs a week). It got a bit crazy at times, but it was better than sitting at home :). DS1 is an early jan baby, and really could/should have been in school last year. He needed the stimulation, and the art & acting were walking distance from our house, with no change of clothes, so easy.

DH wants him to be in soccer, and martial arts of some sort. With both of us working full time, I'm finding just the hockey a bit stressful, lol. I'd best get used to it!

The 'rule' in our house is 1 activity at a time per child... for the winter we have ds#1 in TaeKwonDo, ds#2 in Hockey and ds#3 in Swimming... That's all they'll do until the spring and then they'll probably each play baseball...

I feel horrible, I haven't put DS in anything for the fall/winter. I wanted to put him in indoor soccer but it's on saturdays and with him going to his dad's on the weekends sometimes, I wouldn't get my money's worth.

we are swimmers and the kids are thriving. so they go in swimming and that is usually it - but sometimes I put them in a short session of floor hockey OR something like the home alone course for oldest. I find any more than one night a week is nuts considering they are also at their dad's one evening a week.

My 12 year old DD is a competitive synchronized swimmer so that is 4 practices a week. She also has a 1/2 hour swim class before one of her practices and attends her church youth group. So 5 days a week but she loves it! As long as we have the time and money. Our 16 month old isn't in anything yet but we are looking at swimming come the new year!

DS - 12 is in Hockey, DD - 4 is in Dance. They do swimming in the late spring/summer when hockey and dance are finished. Next year DD wants to play hockey so it will be hockey and hockey and maybe dance.

My dd(11) is in skating two days a week plus one weekend time (45 minutes /session) and in guides once a week for 1.5 hours

My ds (12) is in cadets one night a week for 3 hours.

My dd's teacher is insinuating she is over extended. But I really feel it is important for kids to be involved in things they enjoy. How many kids actually find something that challenges them or makes them want to achieve in school.

DS is in swim practice (like a swim team more than a lesson) twice a week for an hour each time and Mad Science once a week for an hour.

DD is in swimming lessons for half an hour on the weekend and playgroup once a week. She will also start gymnastics in December.
