Yes daycares are supposed to be closed but that puts a huge burden on those who depend on them and have to work. Next year I think will be better. For instance DS pays about $100 a day in tuition for his education. When he payed his tuition in September he had the expectation of X # of days. Had he had class this week (like many of his friends) that would be $100 straight out of his pocket because it's a day he would never get back. Next year the kids will know ahead of time what they are paying for. My biggest problem is the way the holiday was implemented - strictly an election promise with no thought. I don't really have a problem with working the holiday either since we do get the required # of stats already at my company. I'd gladly work it so that someone with young kids could take a vacation day and stay home.

Yeah, it may have been a hasty move to start it this year, however overall I think once the wrinkles are ironed out it will be good.

As much as I am not a McGuinty fan, and would've preferred a June hoilday, I am not about to complain at a day off. But I do agree, a holiday in the shortest/coldest month of the year, doesn't make a whole lotta sense.

To me, a June holiday doesn't make sense. There's the Victora Day holiday in May, then Canada Day July 1st - only 5 weeks between the two. With New Years and Easter ranging anywhere from 12-17 weeks apart, a day off in February is much more practical

But that's just me \:\)

The whole point to put it in February was to break up the long stretch betwewen New Years and Easter. We all could do more in June but maybe this is an opportunity to discover some new winter activities to do with a family....once all members of the family actually have the day off!

We were all home....more of a coincidence than because of the holiday.
