October is Autism Spectrum Disorder Awareness Month in Canada. We've created a special guide containing informative features, including an excerpt from Jenny McCarthy's new book and a podcast with our own CPO Expert Linna Tam to help create awareness of this growing issue.

Do you know a child who has an ASD? A friend's child? A relative? Your own child? Understanding their special needs, and learning more about how they function can help you become a better friend, relative or parent. We invite you to visit our ASD Guide.

Please tell us about more about the ASD child (ren) in your life...

I have two kids that have been diagnosed with different versions of autism. My youngest is 4 and has some form, but they aren't sure which yet and my oldest is 18 and has been finally diagnosed with Aspergers. My daughter is waiting to be tested for it now. She acts very similar to my oldest but without the higher IQ and the dr wants to make sure she doesn't fall through the cracks like her older bro did.

I look forward to talking to you all.

My 13 y.o. son was diagnosed with Aspergers when he was 11. It's mild and not typical (no higher IQ and weird interests) but he cannot make friends. He is a very nice good natured quiet polite boy, and he is in grade 8 regular class with support. I wish I could find other people in Toronto area, who has kids with similar diagnoses and want the kids to spend time together and maybe make friends. My son does not mind kids few years younger or older, but they should be friendly and not noisy or aggressive.
