I have a question for the Clomid Club...how do your docs see if the Clomid is working? If I go on Clomid I will have to go for frequent bloodwork and ultrasounds to see how I respond to it (same as the process for my investigative cycle). I think that sounds reasonable in order to monitor the effects and evaluate treatment, but I wondered if it is common practice.

I was on Clomid for 2 rounds: September and October 05. I was on 50 mg for day 3-7 and it worked for us. My doctor performed a vaginal u/s in his office after round 2, to confirm the ovaries were not growing systs, which is a strong possibility with this medication. He was also able to see that the ovaries were infact releasing eggs, as they should be. For the dosage, he gave me a RX for 3 months.

Hi, my name is Leah. I am 27 years old, and am a pill popper. I finished 100 mg of clomid, with no results. So I was put on serophine 150 mg, and am currently taking provera to start cycle. I will be taking the serophine days 3-7. On day 14 I will have an ultrasound and will be scheduled for an iui depending on the results of the ultrasound. What is the difference between clomid and serophine? They said that they are going to really bump me up on the serophine, so I am a bit confused. Any help would be appreciated.

As far as I know Serophene is generic Clomid therefore less expensive. That is the only difference I know of.
Good luck to you and come on in and join us in the Fertility Cycle support thread. It is filled with women TTC and a great source of info and support!

After a year & a half of trying, I started using minimum dosage (Clomid)for 6 months, changed jobs, got sick, lost 15 pounds, and got pregnant 3 months later. I do attribute Pre-seed to helping me concieve. You can get it online through Berry Technologies in Calgary. A note: It is expensive! Also, I truly advocate the Ovulation Microscope Fertile Focus. I ordered it from the US for $28 ca and got it through letter mail in a week. This thing works great and I didn't have to take my temp every day, just put some spit on a lens whenever I got up. For lazy people like me, it was perfect! 8 weeks & counting!

My fertility doc would send me for day22 progesterone blood test to tell if I ovulated or not. He also said (for me) if I don't get a period by Day 35 than I could be pregnant. Which is what happened on my 3rd cycle of Clomid!! I'm now 8 weeks after TTC for 2.5 years. It worked for me. Good Luck to all of you!! Jewel8

I hope this is the right place for my question...
I was just recently told that it is likely that I have PCOS because I have one hormone that is slightly more elevated than another, and because for the last 6 months my cycle has been all over the map.My doctor says i amy need fertility meds, so I thought I would talk to you all about yours.
I do not have a significant other, but plan to TTC this coming cycle (if it comes! LOL)
So my questions... 1. What is the average cost of the genaric clomid? Real clomid? 2. Does taking fertility meds increase your chance of miscarriage? 3. What is the average length of time on clomid before a pregnancy? 4. Do home ovulation predictor tests work if you are on teh drugs, and if you are not on the drugs but have PCOS do the home tests work?

What meds is your Dr looking at? Metformin and serophene I am guessing?
1- serophene was approx $35 for 5 pills, NOT covered under our plan. Don't know price on Clomid but I was told it is more $$ 2- no, not as far as I know but it does increase chance f multiples. 3- It seems the third month is lucky quite often. But for some it may take longer to find the best dose. Your Dr should be sending you for u/s to check follicles and a progersterone test to comfirm ovulation. 4- I don't know about OPK's but I do know that for me my temps were way off with clomid so I didn't bother temping.
Are you getting referred to a fertility specialist?
Good luck to you and let me know if I can help with any other questions.

Usually take the serophene cycle day 5-9 (or a varience of that depending on your cycle length), that's it. That's enough! Some of the side effects can be nasty! (hot flashes, insomnia, dreams, uh, moodyness lol......)
I don't know much about IUI, Chantelle is our resident expert. I will send her this way next time I talk to her.

Hello! I am not on Clomid yet. We will TTC 'naturally' this month and if it doesn't work out, I will insist with my doc to start taking Clomid. I have been reading up a little on it but maybe you ladies can shed some light. I read that one side effect can be cists on your ovaries, can this be dangerous? In 5% of cases, you can conceive twins. Other than that, are there other side effects for mommy and baby? How exaclty does Clomid work? You take it on the 3-5 day after AF and then when/how do you know when you ovulate?
Please let me know!!
